AJIMOBI'S ADDRESS TO LAUTECH STUDENTS:A MANIFESTATION OF A DWINDLING EDUCATIONAL SECTOR IN OYO STATE
I behold with all sense of disgust, the recent video going viral on social media, regarding the Oyo state governor address to the wounded LAUTECH Students.
The students who are already traumatized by the indefinite closure of their school some eight months ago got their wounds complicated by the speech of the person whom they thought would be their hope in period of tribulations like this, but turned an incubus who add more woes to their problem.
The crisis which started some months ago as a result of the inability of the state government to pay backlog of salaries and arrears owed to the lecturers took another dimension last week as a result of Ajimobi's unguarded utterances to the nugatory Lautech students.
The students, having employed several subtle means of pressing home their demands but to no avail took to the streets and headed to the state house to express their grief to the governor.
The students went to the state house to express their grief to the governor with the hope getting relived after seeing the governor but all they could get was shambolic words uttered by the governor which compiled their trauma.
The atrocities of Ajimobi against the Lautech students is now getting to an alarming stage.
Was it not this governor that called the Lautech students thugs? Ajimobi regarded the Lautech students as thugs in their efforts of making their school reopened for academic activities but the recent video of Ajimobi addressing the students displayed in HD the height of thuggery to be perpetrated by a "constituted authority"
It could also be recalled that Ajimobi once made a statement comparing Lautech to Babcock. This comparison left me in a state of "maniacal bewilderment". If that is truly how it is, why can't he voiced it out during the electioneering campaigns, why didn't he tell the students then that he's not going to provide any subsidy to Lautech, but he was in need of the students then but now that is mission has been accomplished, he now see the students as thugs who are of no use to the society.
The fact that Lautech is Co owned by both the Oyo and Osun state governments is not a rationale for Ajimobi's desertion of the institution. That, instead suppose to be a propelling factor for the development of the institution. While the former(Ajimobi) has become a tyrant who give no regards to the people who entrusted him with their mandate, the latter(Aregbeshola) has been mute over this issue, whereas, the non payment of salaries to Lautech staff was among the things listed to the Federal Government that needed bailout and the bailout was provided by the Federal Government but unfortunately, Aregbesola gave no justification for how the money was spent.
It is very interesting to note that the fact that some myopic and egoistic students leaders of Lautech had gone earlier to meet the governor to "have a nice time" in the name of "meeting" and collected transport fare of 500,000 also makes evident the rate of corruption perpetrated by thugnor Ajimobi. On the part of the students who collected the money, who sold the struggle because because of their selfish interests, I will like to say that history will never forgive some people while it will never forget some people(I will shed more light on this in my subsequent article).
To the people who are justifying Ajimobi's obnoxious comments, I will just urge you to put the Lautech students and their lecturers in your shoes. Imagine you're one of the students who have been at home at home since last year June and all what the Governor could say is "she emi ni mo ti school yin ni" am I the one that closed your school, or your parents were one of the lecturers who have not been paid for their service since June last year, then that's when you will know how dumb you're for supporting thugnor Ajimobi.
To the Lautech community especially our dear colleagues(students), it's indeed a trying period in your academic life, I will urge you to remain positive and never let the acts of a incubus governor diminish your academic hopes, you still have a long way to go
To the entire Nigerian students, the fact that some of us are not Lautech students is not a basis for deserting them in this period, let's complement the efforts of our gallant Lautech comrades by contributing our quota within our capacity.
