HARASSMENT OF FEMALE MUSLIM STUDENTS AT THE 2016 JAMB CBT EXAMINATION

The attention of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit has been drawn to the alleged denial of Muslim sisters from writing the ongoing Jamb Examination on the basis of their use of Hijab, particularly, at Daleware Institute of technology, 31-33 Bode Thomas Road,off Shyllon Street, Palmgrove, Lagos. This unfortunate incident occurred today 29th February 2016.
While MSSN shall investigate this matter and revert to the public  and other appropriate quarters on our findings, we wish to appeal to the Muslims students to remain calm while this matter is addressed. As law abiding citizens, we shall continue to fight for our rights within the ambit of the law.
Be that as it may, we want to remind the general public, regulatory agencies and in particular, all centres of the Jamb CBT examination that the use of Hijab by the female Muslim students is a constitutional right which has been unequivocally affirmed and guaranteed by the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, as amended.  It is also a right that is recognised by various international Instruments which Nigeria is a party to. Any attempt by anyone, be it public or private authorities, to deny our members of this right shall be opposed vehemently.
Any female Student who has been,  is being or likely to be harassed by anyone should immediately contact the Secretariat of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area unit at the addresses and contacts stated below.
